Dance Writing Workshops
The dance writing workshops are an integral part of the second session of workshops for dance instructors. However, these workshops can be organized independently to other programs, as was the case for the Tahitian Dance master workshop that was organized in June of 2011 at the Quai Branly Museum.
Choreographic writing, or choreographic dance, is the act of scripting dance. In Tahitian dance, movements are directly linked to the language.
In the dance workshops, students are taught to choreograph upon a text. The text can be linked to a theme but this is not always the case.
The text is usually in the Tahitian language, but according to dance choreograph principle, it is possible to script any dance in any language.
At the choreographic level, there is no difference between the principles of Aparima choreography and that of Otea.
The dance writing workshops teach both Aparima and Otea choreographies from a text.
