Choreography: Aparima or Otea
Aparima Workshop
Duration: 3 hours, occasionally 4 hours. The Aparima workshop exists in three separate levels according to the complexity, the length, and the text of the choreography. Choreographies are based on a chant, usually in the Tahitian language.
Participants: Anyone over 12 years of age.
Otea Workshop
Duration: Either 3 or 4 hours, depending on level.
Participants: Anyone over 12 years of age.
Simply put, Otea is a group dance that is usually executed with percussion instruments, or at least with music based on percussions. The choreography of Otea is based on text. Unless requested initially, short-length Otea workshops are not based upon text, but can be based upon a particular theme.
